This hall presents objects created in the 19th and early 20th centuries in the Daghestani settlement of Kubachi that was famed for its armourers and jewellers. The traditions of stone-working endure in small handicraft items, such as mortars and the bases for distaffs. The weapons, often decorated with engraved ivory plates, catch visitors’ attention. The most widely used copper articles in the display were muchals (water jugs with a distinctive shape) and lamps. A rare exhibit is a piece of embroidery using metal thread.
The hall also contains brass objects with silver inlay made at the turn of the 20th century in imitation of ancient pieces, evidently for sale to European antique dealers.
