This work came into the museum as a gift from the artist after the André Brasilier retrospective that was held in 2005 in the halls of the General Staff building, even before the restoration of the eastern wing. Today the canvas is part of the display in the gallery of 20th-century painting created in a suite of rooms on Floor 4 of the building. Seen alongside the works of members of the French school from the first half and middle of the century, Brasilier’s painting comes across as the heir to artistic techniques, views and ideas already expressed by Matisse and Picasso.
